Christmas Light Installation in Rancho Santa Margarita
We hang C9 lights on Rancho Santa Margarita rooflines, wrap trees, light the entry and garage, and take it all down in January. It is east of our base in Laguna Hills, out Santa Margarita Parkway past the lake — close enough that a mid-season call-back is routine.
Homes in Rancho Santa Margarita
This is the most consistent city on our list. It was built almost entirely between the late 1980s and the end of the 1990s, so the housing reads as one generation rather than four. Stucco elevations, concrete tile roofs, two-story tracts, and front-facing gables over the garage are the norm from one side of town to the other.
Melinda Heights sits up in the north-west. Tijeras Creek was built around the golf course. Rancho Cielo sits closer to the schools and everyday shopping, Lago Santa Margarita rings the lake at the heart of the city, and Robinson Ranch climbs toward the wilderness at the edge of town.
For a roofline package, that uniformity is genuinely good news. A typical two-story home here has a clear, unbroken run along the front eave, a gable over the garage and often a second line over the entry. C9s along that reads sharply from the street and takes a predictable amount of line, which is why quotes here tend to land where you would expect.
The two things that vary are height and roof pitch. Some of the hillside tracts step up steeply from the kerb, and some of the later builds have taller elevations than the early ones. Neither changes the price band, but both change the working height, so a photo from across the street tells us more than a close-up.
Communities and HOAs in Rancho Santa Margarita
Two sets of guidelines is normal here, and it catches people out. Most of the city sits under SAMLARC, the master association, with neighbourhood associations layered underneath it. A few areas, including Rancho Cielo and Robinson Ranch, sit under their own associations instead.
Many associations around here publish something about exterior and seasonal lighting: the dates a display may be up, colours, whether a timer is required, what may attach to a shared wall or a common-area tree. We are not going to claim we know what yours says, because we have not read it. Ask both the master association and your own neighbourhood association, send us what they say, and we design inside the stricter of the two. If what you want is not allowed, you hear that before you pay anything.
What a display costs in Rancho Santa Margarita

What moves a home inside a band here: feet of roofline, working height, how many separate roof planes there are, and whether the entry, garage, trees, bushes and pathway are included.
Because the housing stock is so consistent, homes on the same street often land close together in price — but we still quote from your photos rather than by the foot, because a corner lot, an extra gable or a tall entry can move a number more than the square footage does.
How booking works in Rancho Santa Margarita
- Text two photos of the front of the house, one straight on and one from across the street. Mention that the roof is tile if it is — most here are.
- You get a real number back inside one of the bands, with what is included.
- We install between October 15 and December 10 and set timers so you never touch a switch.
- Maintenance runs all season, then January takedown. We take it down and store it. A bulb goes out, you call, we come back out.
The calendar opens in September and the early-November dates go first.
Questions we get from Rancho Santa Margarita
Do I ask SAMLARC or my neighbourhood association?
Both, if you are under both — which most of the city is. SAMLARC is the master association covering most of RSM, and neighbourhood associations sit underneath it with their own documents. A few areas answer to a separate association instead. Ask, send us what comes back, and we build the design to the stricter answer.
Almost every roof here is concrete tile. Does that change the job?
It changes the clip, not the price and not the fastener. Concrete tile is standard on the 1990s tracts that make up most of this city, and there is a clip designed for it — nothing gets nailed or stapled into a tile roof, ever. Mention the roof material with your photos and we bring the right hardware on the day.
Do you come out to the streets at the edge of town, like Robinson Ranch?
Yes, same two bands. Those streets sit higher and more exposed, so everything gets clipped down tight rather than draped loose. Season-long maintenance is part of both packages, so if the wind moves something you call and we come back out — the whole reason our service area stops where it does is so we can actually do that.
